Our mohair comes from Groesbeek, the Netherlands. A veterinarian there keeps a small herd of Angora goats. We spin the somewhat softer mohair with lamb's wool from Schapenstreek in Lutjebroek. This blend is very suitable for knitting socks. The mohair replaces the nylon/polyamide used in conventional sock yarn. This makes it possible to knit strong, durable socks without the addition of environmentally harmful petroleum-based plastics. The yarn length is approximately 400 meters/100 grams, which means it falls into the fingering/sock yarn category, or Yarn Group A.
